Although school is a place to learn, there is nothing wrong with having fun once in a while. April Fools Day is definitely a time of year when you can have more fun than usual. Here are some fun and harmless pranks that your young students will enjoy.

The next April Fool’s Day project is one that you will definitely want to consider.

First, choose a topic you’ve been teaching and have several students pretend to write a large article on the topic.

From there, have these students bring several pages to class on prank day. Of course, they don’t need to write the article, just make other students think they did.

When you come to class on April Fool’s morning, ask students to turn in their work. This is when the real fun begins. Students who weren’t involved in the prank are going to worry and wonder what they are missing. After the tension builds, you and the students who were aware of the project can jump up and yell “April Fools!”

Of course, there are other April Fool’s Day jokes you can join in on. No one really knows when this day began, but each year millions and millions of people participate.

One of the most common April Fool’s Day projects is giving your students a story to fool other people. Here’s the story you can use: claim that April Fools’ Day was founded in the 16th century when the Gregorian calendar was imposed. Those who forgot to make the switch were celebrating the New Year on the wrong date, causing them to be mocked.

Students can use this prank on their siblings, parents, or anyone else in their life. When the person begins to say “that’s interesting,” the student may yell “April Fool’s!” It works all the time.

Lastly, don’t forget about this April Fool’s Day project: have your students make a craft that will fall apart when their parents look at it. A greeting card with poor quality workmanship will work perfectly here.

Have your students fold a sheet of paper in half to make the “shape” of a greeting card. From there, ask them to cut two shorter pieces of paper.

Third, have your students decorate the card as they always would.

Next, the student will pass one of the shorter pieces in the middle so that the card will barely open once the glue is dry.

When parents open the card, they will hear the paper inside rip, thinking they made it themselves. The child can then yell “April Fools” to laugh a lot!
