No other lodge has such a spectacular view of the surrounding wildlife, especially the famous annual wildebeest migration. Mara Serena Lodge in the Masai Mara is built on a high hill in the style of a modern Masai village. Every room has a panoramic view of the Masai Mara National Reserve. Even the pool, a blessing on a hot African day, offers an uninterrupted view of the rolling savannah. Here, the plains are teeming with game, gazelle, wildebeest, zebra, elephant, cheetah, leopard and the famous black-maned lion, not to mention 450 varieties of birds.

Mara Soup Lodge

Located in the Oloolaimutia Valley, the lodge blends seamlessly into the surrounding hillside landscape. The accent here is on the Masai people and the fabulous wealth of wildlife, birds and natural flora found in the legendary Masai Mara Game Reserve. The lodge is located 206 km south of the equator on the eastern edge of the Masai Mara Game Reserve. in southwestern Kenya, 2 km from the Oloolaimutia gate. The Reserve, the best-known game area in East Africa, is 1,120 square feet. Kms of prime wildlife-watching territory bordering the Serengeti National Park, the lodge sits at an altitude of 6,400 feet (2,104 meters) above sea level and, due to the cool breeze from the valley in which it is located, enjoys warm days and cool nights. The rainy seasons of April/June, October/November ensure that the Reserve is green almost all year round. Only the lightest clothing is recommended, although a light sweater may be required for mornings and evenings. A more formal attire may be advisable for cocktail parties and theme nights, while a bathing suit is a must by the pool.

The hostel has 200 beds distributed in 77 rooms, 12 suites and 1 Presidential Suite, all of them in a ‘rondavel’ style and with a private bathroom with shaving sockets and a hairdryer. Each room and suite has a private raised terrace with splendid views of the valley and where guests can relax, sunbathe and watch birds and wildlife. Mini-bars are also available in each room. The hostel has direct dial telephone facilities as well as satellite TV and video options. The hostel’s generators provide 240 volts, 50 cycles 24 hours a day. The water supply comes from nearby springs, but guests are advised not to drink from the taps. Instead, filtered water is provided in jars in each room, and bottled water is available for purchase. Children of all ages are welcome and special meals can be provided at convenient times and babysitters upon request. The lodge has a freeform freshwater pool that offers spectacular views over the valley.

Mara Simba Lodge

Mara Simba Lodge is located on the banks of the Talek River. The lodge designed imaginatively and built with traditional materials. It nestles discreetly into the landscape, while both the main building and the rooms face the river, where crocodiles and hippos can be seen. The evening is marked by entertainment around the fireplace with traditional songs, dances, slide shows and lectures.
