The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was a monumental achievement in the world of serious gamers, and even in the world of casual gamers. This mega-popular game was released over a year ago, but that doesn’t mean Bethesda would let you forget about it. No, this game was not meant to stay on the shelf. Bethesda released an entirely new addition to the game on December 4, 2012, more than a year after the game’s release, and Skyrim Dragonborn brought everyone back.

Skyrim took a long time and was a very popular game, which lived up to its expectations. Released on November 11, 2011, the game topped the sales charts. Players spent hours and hours playing this long and detailed game, enjoying never-before-seen graphics and gameplay, battling the return of the dragons, and becoming increasingly interested in the story and all it had to offer. During the last year since the game’s launch, sales have been stable.

Bethesda had a bit of competition, however, with the release of Halo 4 and Black Ops II, so something had to be done to remind you that Elder Scrolls was still in the game, so to speak. This came with the largest Elder Scrolls download form that has been released to date.

Skyrim Dragonborn was pretty much a whole new game, with its own land, its own characters, and its own main story. It even included an element of nostalgia, as the land he traveled to for this DLC took him back to an earlier version of the Elder Scrolls games and all the greatness of Morrowind. Elder Scrolls fans were almost as excited about this great addition as they were about the game itself.

Although the DLC’s ratings were not as high as the game itself due to a general lack of interest in the anticlimactic ending of the main mission, the overall rating was good enough to get people to play again. Given an 8.4 by GameStop, the DLC rated higher than other full games released on the market, which said enough for Bethesda, who is already looking forward, as people still remember and keep arguing about Skyrim.

2013 will be another year for Bethesda as it continues to expand the Elder Scrolls series, not with more DLC for Skyrim this time around, but with an entirely new type of game for users. This time around, Elder Scrolls will arrive at the forefront of MMOs with a multiplayer game that will put you in competition with not only the top players on the console, but the top online PC gaming charts as well.

Bethesda won’t let the world forget that Elder Scrolls is and will always be a favorite among serious gamers. In-depth fantasy action RPGs just keep getting better and better, and if you almost forgot, it’ll hit you with a downloadable addition like Skyrim Dragonborn to keep you playing and keep playing.
