The prize is the largest single lottery jackpot in U.S. history and was won by a Vermont man who bought his ticket at a convenience store. The ticket was purchased in Middlebury, Vermont, and was sold by an unidentified person. The winner can choose to take a lump sum of $283.3 million, or choose to have it paid out in 30 graduated payments over 29 years. Taxes can eat away at your prize, so it’s important to know where your ticket was sold.

While Powerball is played in 44 states, six states don’t currently offer the lottery. It is unique in that it uses two machines to draw the winning numbers. These machines contain 69 white balls and 26 red “Powerballs.” Throughout the 30-year history of the lottery, Indiana has sold 39 jackpot-winning tickets.

Where Powerball Lottery Ticket Was Sold

During the draw, the winning Powerball ticket was sold at Worsham’s Market, located on 2030 New Hope Rd. in Hendersonville. The store is run by Bobby Worsham, a third generation owner. In addition to the current owner, there are four fourth-generation Worshams working at the store.

Earlier this year, five tickets worth more than $1 million were sold in Bucks County. Two of them were million-dollar winning scratch off tickets. One of them was sold at a Bensalem Wawa in January. Another million-dollar scratch-off ticket was sold at One Hope Mart in Warminster. In April, another winning scratch-off ticket was sold at this store. A total of five scratch-off winners lived in Bucks County.

After the jackpot was won, the big winner may never be revealed. Illinois state law allows big lottery winners to keep their names and addresses confidential. In the meantime, the lottery announced that 14 million other tickets were also winners, ranging in prize value from $2 million to $4 million. And the winner may never know who bought the ticket.
