Marketing is the key difference between living the life you dreamed of when you started your windshield repair business or holding onto your nails while struggling to hold on.

Having trained hundreds of windshield repair technicians on the proper way to market their business, I found that most of them had no idea how important the marketing side of the business was to their success.

When I started my windshield repair business, I was beyond excited. I was going to make $ 500 a day and would finally live life on my terms. It would be “WINDSHIELD REPAIR CAPTAIN” blasting a path through my area, leaving all other windshield repair businesses in my dust. Was I ever wrong?

The first lesson you must learn is critical to your success. Marketing well done doesn’t cost you money, it makes you money. If you were to survey windshield repair technicians asking how much they spend on marketing, you would find that the majority would laugh and say zero. They would be proud of that. They would boast that they would not waste their money on marketing. They say that word of mouth and knocking on doors is their marketing plan.

Now ask them how their business is doing and how many repairs they are doing per day. You probably hear stories of sobbing. They will tell you how the economy is going bad. That the recession is killing their businesses. They will blame their slow days on too much competition. They sit while their phone collects cobwebs from lack of use. They are being reactive, not proactive.

Smart windshield repair technicians use strategic and creative marketing ideas and programs. They’re phones that ring, keep you busy, and the best part is, you don’t have to go door-to-door hoping to find customers. Think about it. When was the last time an appliance technician came to your door and asked if you needed a repair? How about an air conditioning boy? The plumber? An electrician? Landscape? Probably never.

You don’t have to crawl into the city’s business district and apply for business. Leave that for the prostitutes. You are a professional and with the right marketing you can earn as much as any type of air conditioner, plumber, electrician and landscaper. And if you’re easy to train and open to suggestions, you could earn more than these guys.

Windshield repair technicians come and go on a daily basis. Most struggle to survive. Most fail. It is not that they are not good at what they do, it is not that they do not have the skills, it is not that they are not willing to work hard, it is their lack of training in MARKETING. That’s the bottom line – it all comes down to the right marketing strategies.
