Every time we hear the term “Breaking News,” a sense of urgency hits our brain. Suddenly we started paying more attention. This is nothing unusual for the human brain. Our brain responds to unusual things or events at a faster rate than normal events. Visual and print media try to make the best of these two words mainly to grab the attention of the viewers.

One of the main sources of such news is television channels. Television channels are the main visual medium to announce this type of news from time to time. Mostly these news appear on a scroll when the news is not broadcast on TV. During the news hour, along with the scroll, the news feed such as breaking news is also given more time and detailed reports. However, some TV channels exaggerate the importance of a story and cover less important stories like breaking news. Sometimes when there is nothing special to broadcast, some TV channels broadcast general events or stories like breaking news just to catch the attention of the viewers. The strategy may work for them in the short term, but in the long term they will almost certainly lose audience. This will happen because they are misleading their viewers by covering less important events labeled as breaking news.

There are also many websites online that offer this type of news. But can you trust the authenticity of the news provided by these sites? Surely, you can’t trust all of them. Only reputable websites offer true and informative stories. So, you need to know the features of a reputed news site to get informative news. There are also websites that can offer real and informative stories, but they are not good in terms of choosing the right story to cover as breaking news. These websites consider almost any story as breaking news and thus confuse visitors. At one point, it turns out to be a daunting task for the website to grab visitors’ attention to important news. This happens when visitors think they are being tricked and offer general news in an exaggerated way. In this way, websites lose visitors.

Therefore, both TV channels and websites need to be sensitive in terms of news delivery. They should not misinterpret the seriousness of the news and confuse visitors. However, these news sources should focus on reporting informative news and label only significant stories “Breaking News.” If the media act in a professional manner, the ultimate goal of conveying information to the masses can be achieved.
