Homeschool World History

When your children reach first grade they can begin learning about history and the world around them in a fun and engaging way. There are many homeschool world history curriculum options to choose from for your students. Some of these have a biblical perspective while others are secular. Many have a combination of both approaches to help your child gain an understanding of the past and how it affects the present and future. It is not recommended to use two different history programs but using one as your spine and another to supplement what you are teaching is a good approach.

Choosing a homeschool world history curriculum for your homeschool 1st grade can be a challenge. There are many choices but it is important to consider how your children learn best and what works for you. Some homeschool world history curriculum uses a literature approach with stories about people like George Washington by the D’Aulaires or Abraham Lincoln (Bicentennial Edition). This is an excellent way for young children to understand history through the story of these famous individuals.

Other homeschool world history curriculums are more structured with text books, workbooks and other supplemental materials. These may include maps, timelines, art projects and more. There are also online resources and websites that teach history through video presentations and interactive activities. There are even a number of video field trips that take your student to actual historic sites around the world.
