Ingredients:

1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 cup of chocolate syrup
2/3 cup of milk
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup of water
1 tablespoon. baking powder
1/2 cup maraschino cherries, quartered
1/4 cup maraschino cherry juice
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 cup butter, melted
Whole maraschino cherries, optional

For this Black Forest Pudding Cake, you will also need a 1 8-inch baking dish.

Instructions for this Black Forest Pudding Cake:

Step 1
Preheat toaster oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2
In a bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Add milk, vanilla, and melted butter. Add 1/2 cup of the cherries.

Step 3
Meanwhile, combine the chocolate syrup, hot water, and cherry juice.

Step 4
Roll out the dough in a greased baking dish and pour the chocolate-cherry juice mixture evenly over the butter.

Place in the oven and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until the edges start to pull away from the pan or the center has set. Remove from the oven and let rest for about 15 minutes. Top with maraschino cherries.

Almond Mocha Pudding Cake Recipe:

Follow directions above, omitting the cherries and cherry juice. Instead, add 1/2 cup of chopped almonds to the batter. Spread the dough in an ungreased mold.

Combine 4 teaspoons of instant espresso coffee and hot water. Add 1/2 cup of the chocolate syrup and pour the mixture over the dough. Bake according to the instructions above.
