Laptop issue: A customer came and brought in a laptop with a complaint of “NTLDR missing, press Ctrl + Alt + Del to reboot.”

Notebook brand and model: Acer Model: 4736Z

Diagnosis, cause and solution: Mainly, this type of computer error is due to a corrupted Windows operating system. So I decided to repair this error using Windows XP setup in the hope that it will restore immediately. But when I tried to repair this error with the Windows XP setup program, it did not continue with the entire repair process because another error appeared before I got to the installation welcome page.

The “Blue Screen of Death” error is the other error I’m talking about, and below are the full details about this error:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been closed to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you’ve seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen reappears, follow these steps:

Look for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK / F to check for hard drive corruption and then restart your computer.

Technical information:

*** STOP: 0X0000007B (0XF78D2524, 0X0000034, 0X00000000, 0X00000000)

Solution for the above error:

I rebooted the laptop and after seeing the splash screen on the laptop screen, I continuously pressed the F2 key to go into BIOS setup. F2 is the key in this laptop model to enter BIOS setup, you need to press this key continuously or hold this key until BIOS setup mode exits. After entering BIOS setup, I navigated to SATA mode. SATA mode in this case was set to [ AHCI ], I changed this setting to SATA mode – [ IDE ]. After changing the SATA mode from AHCI to IDE, the “Blue Screen of Death” error has been removed and the repair process can now continue to the welcome to setup page and complete the whole operation until the Windows operating system is restore completely. Hope this article helped give you some ideas on how to fix “NTLDR is missing, press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart”. Repairing your own PC without proper knowledge will only lead your PC to utter destruction. You need to have a proper guide and the proper tools for you to be successful in repairing your PC.
