Committed for Better Business

It was a Tuesday morning in the upper Midwest. I was waking up from a good night’s sleep. Turns out I’m an early riser and it’s 4:30 am I’m in my kitchen having my first cup of coffee and getting ready for the next day.

I turn on my television to take a look at the morning news and the weather report. After about 15 minutes, I turn off the TV and go upstairs to take a shower.

Now I’m ready to attack the day. The first thing I do is go to my office and turn on my computer. After my computer has booted up, I go to my email to sort my messages.

What a nice surprise. I received a message from one of my recent subscribers to my electronic letter. Her name is Ana. She is from New England and is asking me for help finding interior and exterior wall lighting for her home.

Anyway, Ann is from Connecticut and owns a contemporary Colonial built in 1984. She recently took an inventory of her house and did some remodeling in her kitchen and 3 baths. She said as she did an inspection of her house to see what could be replaced. She realized that there were several wall light fixtures both inside and outside her home that needed to be replaced with new, more attractive fixtures.

The first of these wall light fixtures that needed replacement was in her formal dining room. He went on to say that the dining room walls are light yellow wallpaper with a pattern of small, close-set flowers that dot the entire surface of the wallpaper. In the middle of one wall is a rusty dark brown brick fireplace with tan mortar between the bricks, extending halfway up the wall. The width of the brick chimney was about 7 feet.

He also said there is a formal dining table made from solid oak, with oak chairs that are padded with brown leather quilted slipcovers on both the seats and backs. Above the dining room table is a polished brass chandelier.

On the innermost wall of the dining room was a custom-made buffet cabinet. This buffet cabinet was 15 feet long. Above the buffet cabinet are 5 equally spaced wall light fixtures on the wall. Each of these wall light fixtures was a 2 candle electric wall sconce.

Ann goes on to say that she’d like to swap out these electric candle sconces for something more contemporary and artful.

Right away I’m thinking of going with something in a contemporary brass. After searching I found a wall light that will create a vibrant atmosphere in your formal dining room. It’s a beautiful wall sconce in a new brass finish. This dynamic wall lamp is a magnificent work of art. The contemporary brass base has a marbled amber stone shade. This unusual stone tone will fill the room with shades of rainbow colors and add an extra charm to your room that will wow your visitors. Colors range from a soft, pale sunny yellow to a deep, rich honey-golden amber.

So I thought there are 5 lights along that wall. It would really look magnificent if the second and fourth light were different from the others. So I considered many combinations and came up with what I thought would be the perfect match. The other two lights on your dining room wall would be the two Tiffany wall sconces in Valiant Bronze. This stained glass light fixture incorporates the use of warm earth tones and geometric shapes to create a fixture that is both comforting and creative.

Next, Ann wanted to change the lighting on the outside wall of her house. She had a three car attached garage. There was a double overhead door and a single overhead door.

There are three wall lamps on this wall. She had mentioned that she was looking for large outdoor light fixtures with a silver metal finish.

My suggestion to Ann was a clean new look. I chose the 27th Street Outdoor Wall Fixture in Satin Etched Nickel. This outdoor wall light fixture has a clean modern look that will never go out of style. I also suggested that she use this same wall light fixture for the wall light by the front door and on the back wall of her house where she has a deck.

When it comes to indoor or outdoor wall lighting, your options are limitless. From styles to finishes, from sizes to shapes, you’ll never run out of possibilities. One thing you can be sure of is that there is a wall light fixture to illuminate every possible decorating theme.
